This photo is from the painting with light assignment, and displays the model as an angel with wings and a halo. The shapes were created by drawing lines with a flashlight while all of the other lights in the room were off. There is a high contrast between the light and its surroundings, with balanced exposure, and the focus is high. The shutter speed was fifteen seconds to allow time for the light to be moved, and the camera was on a tripod to keep the photo in focus. The photo is taken from straight on, leaving the head of the model and the halo in the top third. The ominous yet serene mood of the photo is created with the only light being in the shapes of the wings and halo, and the rest of the photo is filled with darkness.
This photo is from the pattern and repetition assignment, and was taken at Pierce Beach in Somerset of one of the plants. The light is created by the sun, and there is a balanced exposure and balanced contrast. The whole photo is in focus, creating a large depth of field. I took the photo from a low point of view, so the plant would fill the frame more, up to the second third, fading to the top. The bright lighting and colors of the photo create a mood of happiness and warmth, along with a summer aesthetic.
This photo was taken for the Favorite Person project, and captures the model looking
out the window shortly after the sun has risen, creating a golden glow in the photo.
The lighting is natural, with minimal contrast due to the light making the colors soft.
The photo is taken from the side of the model, but level to her. The whole photo is in focus, but it is relatively soft and not super sharp. The photo follows the rule of thirds, as the model's head is in the top two thirds of the photo. The yellow light and theme of the photo, as well as the fact that it is clear that it is early morning, can represent warmth and peace throughout the image.
This picture was taken for the Powerlines and Playgrounds project, and depicts and swing set in motion at a playground. The lighting was created by the sun, and there is high contrast between multiple aspects of the picture, such as the different colored swings, or the sand and the shadows that cover some of it. The photo was taken with a high shutter speed to capture the motion. It has a large depth of field to capture
the entire swing set and background, which contributes to the outdoorsy mood. |

My last photo was taken for the portraits project, and depicts the model holding a
flower in front of her face. The lighting comes from a studio light, along with
a reflector on the model's right side. There is a high contrast between
the model's light skin, hair, clothing, and flower, and the black background. The
photo was taken with a high ISO and a fast shutter speed to allow light in.
It is taken from slightly above the model on a high tripod, which is seen in
her looking up at the camera.
