Photo Essay
I took my photos in Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The subject is the progression through the outdoors, starting with a plane and a more industrialized area, moving into the woods and nature. I selected this place and consider it to be important because it has a wide variety of outdoorsy areas and can clearly display the progression I wanted to show. In addition to this, the colors of the parks and areas in the photos are all bright and fun, making the photos pop. The concept that I am trying to portray about this topic is the fact that the idea of the outdoors can vary greatly, and one’s definition of outside can be very different from another’s.The “story” that the photo essay captures is created by the order of the photos, and the fact that they go from completely man-made areas to completely natural areas. The series is primarily visually unified by the bright colors in every picture, as well as the clarity and far away point of view of the pictures. In my opinion, my strongest photo is the fourth image, which is looking upward at a building, a tree, a clock, and a lamp post. I think that this is my strongest photo because it has a lot going on visually, with many different colors, lines, and shapes, but every shape is defined and sharp.
